Everyone is smiling now after a record season!!! Well done to all the team that worked so hard all season!!...
Michael has been running Farndale for 15 years now, it has established itself as one of North Yorkshires finest shoots. A beautiful valley with panoramic views of the stunning North Yorkshire landscapes. We offer Grouse, Partridges and Pheasants and offer the rare opportunity to shoot all three in the same day. The weather plays a huge part in the days at Farndale and on the right day it can be truly breath-taking.
Place Newton is the youngest shoot to the group and has been under Michaels management for 6 seasons now. It has quickly grown under the new Head keeper Adam and his team to rival any of the local shoots for quality although the shooting is quite different to what we offer at Farndale or Black Park. We can offer partridge and Pheasant shooting from mid-September onwards with most days being a varied mix of pheasant and Partridge after September from Wooded banks, game covers and grass valleys.
The longest running shoot under Michaels management, after some 45 years Michael has Black Park really at its peak. Some fantastic drives such as Birk Head and The Point are more than memorable and if you’re lucky enough to visit Roy’s Nab you are likely to see drive a drive to rival the best on most shoots.
I have been shooting at Farndale for over 13 years and never to date had a bad day. Bernard, the keeper, is always very patient and accommodating as well as Adam who deals with the other shoot at Place Newton. They have both shown us some very challenging birds. I have found all the beaters along with the picker uppers on both shoots extremely friendly and helpful particularly those who take their dogs. Michael is obviously very good at choosing his team which is something I am grateful for along with my guests who have been to both shoots and enjoyed their days.
I have had the pleasure of attending Farndale for nearly 10 years now and it has quite rightly earned a reputation as one of the very best shoots in the UK. I can honestly say that it never disappoints and year in year out it is the most consistent shoot that I am lucky enough to work with. The stunning scenery, challenging birds and an excellent team lead by Bernard ensure that Farndale sends all of their guns home happy. Place Newton has been developing for a number of years now and in the 2017/18 season it seemed to really come into its own. Adam is doing a fantastic job and the shoot is going from strength to strength. All in all, if you are looking for top quality shooting then you would not go wrong shooting at either of these two fantastic estates.
The first grouse day at Farndale was a great success, not masses of grouse but enough to have a really good day. Well done to everyone for their hard work on the day and leading up to it!!...
